Essay on the topic “Internet in the life of a modern person”
The speed of modern life has increased enormously. The advent of gadgets and the birth of the worldwide network have changed the life of mankind once and for all. What is the Internet and what role does it play in our lives?
The explanatory dictionaries give the meaning of the term “Internet” – a system of computer networks designed to store and transmit information. But in fact, the Internet is a whole world that exists in parallel with our reality.
Millions of sites allow a person to perform hundreds of actions without leaving the computer. It has long become a habit to find out the latest news and weather forecast on the Internet. E-mail has long supplanted the usual mail, and online payment systems are becoming more and more popular. Thanks to the Internet, a person can freely make purchases in various stores around the world, order tickets for a plane, theater or exhibition, plan a trip without leaving home, place bids at auctions and even manage individual gadgets in his home.
Talking about the advantages of the World Wide Web, it is impossible to ignore its value as a source of information. Now it is enough to have a computer and an Internet connection at hand, and you can freely visit the most famous libraries, archives, museums, get advice from specialists in any field at professional forums.
The global network has given humanity and millions of jobs. Already you will surprise no one with such activities as internet marketing, online business, freelancing. Remote access has made homeschooling possible as well. It is enough just to sign up for online courses and you can become a student at Moscow State University, Harvard or Oxford.
But most of the sites are, of course, devoted to entertainment: movies, music, games, forums and social networks. This is where the source of the flaws often blamed on the Internet lies. Yes, a person often becomes dependent on the Web, unwittingly replacing the real world with a virtual one. In psychology, a special concept of “Internet addiction” has even appeared.
Whatever it was, but the development of human civilization in the future is unthinkable without the Internet – so deeply it has entered our life, covering almost all areas of life. Learning the culture of working on the Internet is another matter. Indeed, in this case, culture means not only politeness in communication, but also the organization of spending time on the Internet. Probably, the time has come when, along with the rules of grammar, it is time to teach literacy lessons on working with the Internet.
The Internet appeared with a specific purpose, initially it was an opportunity to get knowledge for free. But today it has not only practical but also entertainment value. The World Wide Web has become so firmly embedded in the life of every person that it is impossible to imagine one’s existence without it.
The most popular social network Facebook
According to statistics, most of the Internet users live in the United States. Here, 95% of children and 85% of adults go online every day. Facebook was recognized as the most popular social network among teenagers and adults. Every seventh person has an account.
In 2021, the number of Internet users reached three billion, which is almost half of the world’s population. Scientists have researched the Internet and presented it as a separate state. If this actually happened, then in terms of the level of economy such a country would take the fifth place in the world. The Internet is capable of overtaking the standard of living in Germany.
But due to the spontaneous use of the network and non-compliance with the rules of the virtual world, some users experience unpleasant situations – account hacking, blackmail, theft of money from bank cards and electronic wallets.
During the Cold War of the USSR and the USA, the Internet appeared. It was founded in order to connect computers located at a considerable distance. At that time, information was exchanged only through telephone lines.
For the first time, the system was able to link only 4 computers. But a year later she began to work at the highest level. The network was constantly expanding, from a closed military program it turned into a network accessible to all users.
